Mashed Potatos: The Ultimate Peeling Jutsu

I was going to blog about how annoying it is to have a heavy downpour as you leave for work. And ramble about how irritating it is to get your clothes soaked. Or how annoying it can be to rush back into the house to get a spare change of clothes. ARGH... okay, I did it.. Yes it rained cats and dogs. And it hasn't rained in the morning for ages. Pah! Dark mornings ahead, I foresee...

On a lighter note, yours truly has decided to explore the wonderful world of mashed potato making.

Then reality hit me. I hate peeling potatoes.

So ever being the great supporter of Internet knowledge, I googled potato peeling and found this wondrous technique of peeling the potato in ONE STEP! Well, almost one step (Stop being so picky about details, ya)

So I shall (again) share a Youtube on my potato enlightenment.

Oops, I forgot not everyone is Japanese-literate like Poohbearie. A thousand apologies. Well basically the steps were:
  1. Score a line across the middle of the potato.
  2. Boil the potato as you normally would
  3. Blanch the potato in ice cold water for like, 10 seconds
  4. Then 'undress' the potato...
LOL, tell me if it works. I haven't tried it yet. But soon...

I actually thot you were concerned about peeling them raw. Just need one of those contraptions right. Peeling cooked is definitely easier. I think if you like spud, just have jacket, healthier. Just pile on the sourcream and bacon bits and chives... hahaha, got greens some more.

Same theory as boiled-egg... Put cold water on it so that peeling is easy. But I haven't tried potato.

wow..new discovery! Hubby and I love mashed potato, I'll definitely try that out to see if it really works :) Agree with what 742 said, run boiled egg under running cold water does make peeling easier.

chinkinin: wah, you're certainly a food expert!

742: Egg too?

winniethepooh: Still haven't tried out yet as of now.
