My Brother's Laptop Exploded!

Usually when we read the news, we generally read it with a detached mind, rarely expecting those dramatic stuff to leap out of the pages into our mundane existences.

For example, exploding laptop battery cells.

Come to think of it, do they still like to use the term 'laptop' these days.?

I have no absolutely no clue. I don't own a laptop.

Anyway, last week, my brother's laptop blew up.

It left three shotgun sized holes between the LCD and the keyboard. (Yes, you can put a finger through it)

Bits of cable and remnants of batteries were blasted a distance away.

Oh, and the explosion took a printer as a sacrifice.

I suppose you would be curious to know which brand it was but I'm not going to tell you. Needless to say, we all would know from the news which brands had a history with these batteries.

And I don't think it has anything to do with the laptop manufacturer but more with the battery producer.

Anyway, I wrote this because I want to tell you two things:

1. Never put a laptop or notebook on your lap unless you want to lose your God-given jewels and be sent to the land of the eunuchs. Either way, the radiation or the explosion will do it. Long term or short term, you decide.
2. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher in the house. Honestly I never realized the need until this incident occurred.
