Where's the drive and obsession?

Over the past weekend, I have come to the sad conclusion I am no longer obsessed with any of my old pet indulgences: books, computer games and movies.

Books:
  • I used to digest books like movies. Three novels a day. I read until I was blurry-eyed and my stomach cried for sustenance. I couldn't put a book down. But nowadays, sigh...
  • On Saturday, I discovered a Christian book I had been eyeing and trying to order many years ago (YEAH!) Victory Over the Wilderness by John Bevere. Quickly I bought it. And took it home. And left it on the table. And it's been lying there gathering dust and gecko guano ever since.
  • On Sunday, on impulse, I bought the two Eragon titles - RM 29.90 each, (YEAH). At approximately 10pm last night, I started reading the first book. At 10.55pm, I finished 310 pages, put it down, went to chat on MSN and forgot about it. Now, I'm like, shall I continue reading it or not...

Computer Games:
  • Computer games were like my life during my teens and my initial few years of working. I got my Playstation the first year of working and my PS2, 7 years later. Ah, many were the years of sleep I was deprived of. Online games, console games, multiplayer games in the cyber cafe... ahh, wrestle my fingers off the controller and you are asking for trouble. But now....
  • On Friday, I started playing Final Fantasy 12. Yay, cool graphics. After one hour of playing... boring....
  • On Saturday, I picked up the controller at 1am. Managed to play til 3am. Hmm, remembered I have church, so went to sleep. Stopped after 2 hours.
  • On Sunday, decided to try and continue the game again. Played for about 1 hour. 2 characters died. Boring. Stopped.

I think I shall stop here and not whine about movies as well.

Where has all the fire gone?
Long time passing
Where has all the fire gone?
Long long ago

Sigh.

as you grow, you find that the things that used to amuse you don't anymore. it's normal. you're changing, you're evolving. the passion has not gone, you just want different things now. you know what you need to get? a life. *grins* something to make you feel contented. that's what's missing?

books? I stopped reading them 15 years ago. But just occassionally pick up a few from the bookstore just to put them up for dustcollection.

LOL, I thought Ian wrote: What you need now is a new honey. GO pick up!...

I agree with ME. We keep evolving. Maybe no author is worthy of having your read their stuff (except Annie's writing of course)

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Maybe you're just trying something different Jonzz ?

Doesn't hurt to ask questions though.

ME: hmm, if 'a little something' was enough and 'a little something' is what i presume you are saying, i would have gotten it long ago. Unfortunaly I have been labelled choosy and have a low threshold for boredom, so I don't foresee any of 'a little something' in the stars.

LM: wait lar, next time you come to Sban.

annie: jonzz evolves too much. what he neeeds to do is to stop revolving and focus. LOL. WAKAKAKAKA...

not a 'little something'. everybody's different and not many people want their destiny to include 'a little something'. rather, something else that evokes your passion. close your eyes. think of what you would love to do more than anything else in your life? chances are....you can't think of anything that you will want to do every day for the rest of your life. you've lost sight of your passion. that happens when you grow. you forget what you love to do. when you have the time, talk to your self. most important, listen to yourself. without passion, life is but a passing.

OH NO! Jonzz get a girlfriend, then he'll really have his whole world turned upside down.
It's what we do, admit it girls. We LOVE to rock their world and make them wish we didn't exist.

it's our nature. *grin*
